Okay, I played with it and hear is what I found. If you leave the layout set to 0 in paragraphs, then you do have to put two lines between each paragraph. However if you format your document before hand and change it to indent two spaces then you can just hit enter once and your okay. Set your display to show new lines as indent 1 or two cells. Set the display to automatic or layout and see if it helps. Make sure your reading mode is paragraph.

Again, that paragraph boundary of N for next line should be enough to tell it that a single carriage return marks a paragraph. Just my thoughts on for me what is a bit of a frustrating issue.
