And do we have the right to twist others' communications to suit our own
nefarious agendas? I make no apologies for being direct, nor do I stand
quietly by when the expertise of a member (and there are many on this list
whose knowledge I've admired and from whom I've learnt much) is called into
question because factually correct answers are not what a questioner wanted
to hear. Moreover, I believe that subsequent responses bore out my
thinking.

In re-reading the message to which I'd originally responded, I discovered
I've also been accused of giving platitudes in answer to serious questions.
I'm not into platitudes (I'm a communicator by profession and regard such a
remark as a personal insult), I make every effort to share what scant
knowledge I have directly and promptly and I don't ask for help unless I've
done all I can for myself (the odd panic notwithstanding).

In closing, I suppose I naively thought that, should someone repudiate any
knowledge I might have on any given subject, that someone out there would
stick their neck out for me in the way I did mine. Guess I was wrong.

Thanks to all those from whose knowledge I've benefited.
