Hi Andy; Please explain yourself a little better. You are not making much sence to me. You can not scan with just a computer, alone. I have open Book at work and never got real good at It. I need Open Book and my computer to be able to scan. >From what I understand, Scan R, will scan and some how the imfo can be >transfered, I guess by cf card to the braille note. No matter what, I would need Open book, Scan R or curswile, how ever it is spelled. I was also thinking of their hand held unit, shown at National. Terry Powers

The stand alone units were designed for a niche market, namely people who only want to read, and do not want or need any additional computer functionality. If you already have a PC, you have no need for such a device. And, a PC with OCR software will still be less expensive than one of these devices.
