It was incorrectly stated that there can not be any obsticals between your
computer and your BrailleNote if you wish bluetooth to work. this is simply
not true. The signal will reach farther if there are no obsticles, but walls
are rarely a problem ... at least not here in the U.S. LOL I guess we have
flimsy walls and doors.
You can think of the bluetooth signal in somewhat the same way as you think of
sound. You can certainly hear things through walls and doors, but the more
that gets in the way the less well you can hear. At some point either from
distance or because of intervening obsticles you can no longer hear well enough
to do you much good. In the same way, a bluetooth device can only get the
signal for about 30 feet and that may be reduced by obsticles. In the case of
bluetooth metal objects are the worst bariers.

I often forget that my cell phone is on in my purse in the entry way when I try
to use bluetooth on my braille note from my bedroom. Suddenly I hear a little
jabbering voice that I can't really understand coming from my purse. It is my
phone waking up because it noticed my BN or computer looking for bluetooth
devices. I don't honestly know the distance between my devices, but there are
certainly walls in the way.
