Dear Karen I support you 100 % on this. Although not deaf-blind myself, I mentored, for a time, for an organization called SAIL, Successful Adults In Life, which supplied mentors with sensory disabilities to younger people with sensory disabilities. TTY was an essential piece of equipment for all workers and, with all due respect to HumanWare, I think should have been implemented long ago. I certainly consider it more important than games, radio and the MP# player, nice as these things are.
Cheers! TTYs are machines which allow a person who is deaf or deaf-blind to access the telephone. Having one of these would give people who are deaf-blind independent access to a telephone. It would also give people who are blind access to a TTY if they work in situations where they need such access. Working in a social service agency can be one example of where such access is needed. **All outgoing messages scanned for viruses using Norton Antivirus 2006.
