Hello!
It sounds to me that you may need to convert your file from a Keyword
Braille Document to a plain Braille document. Keyword documents aren't
readable on a standard PC regardless of which programs are being used
whether it is Duxbury or Microsoft Word as examples. The document must be
converted to a readable format for the PC. This can be done in one of two
ways.
Let's assume the document you wish to convert is a keyword Braille document
called "assignment". You wish to make this document readable through
Duxbury Braille Translation. Open your document as you normally do. Once
in your document, press S with spacebar on a BT Keyboard. You should be
asked for a document name. Be sure you are in computer Braille when typing
this information. Press backspace with G then the letter J which stands for
zero. Your unit will say computer Braille. Type the document name
assignment.brf and press enter. You will be asked whether you wish to open
the new document after saving? Type Y for yes and you are good to go.
This also can be done through the file manager. Type F for file manager, T
to translate a document and press enter. The first item you will hear is
import file. Space once and you will hear export a document, press enter.
You will be asked from which folder you wish to export the document? Select
the folder in the usual way. You then will be asked for the file name to be
exported. Select your file in the usual way or press enter if the file you
wish to export was the last one you opened. You then will be asked to
export to which device? Press enter for file. You will then be asked for
the file type. The first option is ASCII text file. Press dots 3 4 and
spacebar on a BT keyboard and you will hear plain Braille file, press enter
on that option. You then will be asked for the destination drive. You can
select one of the drives in the BN or any flash or SD cards. You then will
be asked for the directory name. This can be selected in the usual way or
you can type it in. My unit says computer Braille is required. You then
will be asked for the file name, type assignment.brf or whatever it is
called and press enter. You then will hear that the file was exported. It
will say one file exported.
When you look for the file, you will see it with a .brf extension. When
opening the file, you will be asked to review the options, type N for no.
You are reading your new file. The Keyword document doesn't ask you whether
you wish to review the options, but this happens with your new document.
That's how you can tell which file you are working with. If you didn't
place the file onto a flash card when exporting, you will need to move it to
your PC. Hopefully, Duxbury will be able to read your "assignment.brf file
just fine. Perhaps you may need to edit a bit with Duxbury but you will
have a file you can work with.

Message is below.
The original document is a worksheet created in Duxbury and saved for you
to
read as a .brf file. The embosser settings are as indicated.
You upload from a flash card to the Braille Note, fill in your answers,
and
save your work as a .brf file and hand it in on a flash card.
I am importing your .brf file in to Duxbury and reading it as a braille
file.
When I import, I get a message saying "page width exceeded." I can open
the
file in Duxbury, but long lines created on the BN are truncated.
For example,
See your document on the BN for question 1
My answer reads as follows:
",coral reefs >e important 2c x's ! Anima" The next thing I see is
question
2.
I don't remember what your embosser settings are or how to find that out.
That would also be something to inquire about.
