Dear Malaina:

OK so you have a separate DSL modem and router. You have the DSL
modem connected to the wall jack where it plugs into the phone
line, and a cable connecting the DSL modem to the router which in
turn is connected to the PC.

Sounds like all is well and good with the wires and cables.

Please see my previous post about the joys of WEP keys and
routers.

To get into the configuration screens of the router, you would
typically from the pc that is wired-in to the router,
use Internet Explorer to connect to a special IP address that
gets you into the router's configuration screens.

Your router will probably have come with an instruction sheet
giving its TCP/IP address, and the user-id it will need and
password if any that it will need.

I don't know if your pc has a screen reader or not that lets you
use it by yourself, or if you need sighted assistance from one or
the other of your parents to use the pc.

Check with your long distance company as to how much they charge
for calls from your home to my number and then ask your parents
real nicely if you can make about a 15 or 30 minute call to me.

My number is 1 613 247-0665.

It will help immensely if you can be on the telephone while you
are physically at your PC and also have your BrailleNote with
wireless card charged up and ready for use.

Hope this helps. You win a Wireless battle one step at a time
and the first one is the battle of the router configuration.

Brian
