Is this really the case? Did FS only get approval for one version, or could it be possible that the fees haven't been payed or something? I think that what needs to happen is that some smart blind person, preferably outside of the USA, needs to crack this silly passcode thing and develop a way to rewrite passcode free versions of so called protected books. I'll bet that sighted people aren't all of a sudden going to run out and purchase an expensive piece of software or equipment just to use these books. To my knowledge, there is no widely available daisy player on the general market. I challenge someone to crack this nut. Rusty

The fact is that Freedom Scientific got approval for use of RFB&D books with the FS reader software for either the PC or the Pocket version I can't remember which but not for the other version. So here are two versions of the same software, one for the PC and one for the PacMate and only one is approved. I really think it is time for blind consumers to raise very loud objections to this silly and annoying practice by RFB&D. They are to my knowledge the only producer of books that does this. Of course, the fact that I don't understand this is likely why I'd never make it as an attorney. Visuaide which as we all know is now part of HumanWare has had an agreement with RFB&D for quite some time. Yet, the same company has to work out a separate agreement with the same non profit organization simply to use a new device. Again, attorneys somewhere are doing ok in this world, when in fact logic would dictate that this agreement should be a relatively simple thing to put in place; considering that HumanWare already has an agreement with RFB&D, but it's for a different device.
