Aim can be both text a speech just like msn or windows messenger. I will ask a friend to check on her notetaker as to how the braille works with the messenger programs she uses.

Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Future Suggestion

Malaina, I don't happen to own a computer any more. (I can't
afford both a Bn and PC, and I find the Bn more user friendly.

Friends talk about "AIM" which I was told was voice, not text.

IN any case, is the HW version of Instant Messenger both text
and voice?

Bear in mind two things:
    * JFW doesn't show in braille everything that is vioced.
(Neither does the BN.)
    * I've learned, often to my regret, that there are things
which can be voice and text but require voice inorder to
operate effectively. (The KNFB Reader is a good case in point.)
