Richard,
When I wrote that message, to the best of my knowledge, nobody from
Humanware had responded at that time! I understand that they can't fix
these problems overnight but a message to acknowledge that they are
assessing the situation was in order! I am not unreasonable enough to
expect that things should be fixed yesterday but it is reasonable in my
opinion to expect a message from someone saying we are aware of the
problems!

Hi Virgie and Richard, et al,
I think there is a lot of misunderstanding happening here.
Being ignored is a very subjective statement.
At least three Humanware staff have responded on this list since 7.2 was
released.
Robin Williams, who is the Research Programme Manager, responded by
actually telephoning several people who were having issues and made it
very clear that Humanware is well aware of the bugs being reported and are
working very hard to get them resolved and to get a patch out ASAP.
That fact has been reported on this list by others as well.
It has been only a week since 7.2 was released. Given the numbers of
issues and the fact that not everyone using the same device are
experiencing the same issues must be driving the Humanware engineers up
the wall.
I don't expect them to have a fix out yesterday. I think some patients
would be in order.
I'm as frustrated as anyone with the bugs in Keysoft 7.2. I have a PK
that I use daily. I use it for my calendar. I got into the habit of
using the joystick to quickly review my appointments. Since the upgrade,
the joystick no longer functions. That is truly annoying. But, given how
complex these machines are, I understand that unforeseen things happen
when making changes.
If they get a patch out in a month or two, I will be very impressed. To
expect any immediate resolution to these kinds of problems may be just
setting oneself up for more frustration.
It also takes time for them to read all of these messages, which takes
away from their time fixing the problems.
As Rhonda stated in her well written message on this issue, given the key
staff they have lost this year, I'm impressed they are doing as well as
they are.

Hi,
Actually Richard I think we are being ignored! I hope I am wrong but
that's what if feels like to me! I would think they would want to hear

here!
Big sigh!

You are correct.
Deane Jackson knew the nuts and bolts of the Braillenote and was always
there with good technical information. Jonathan was the sales and
marketing guy, and he did his job well, never saying anything, but
saying it well.
Now, we pretty much have zero interest from Humanware.
Are we being punish? (smile)

Actually, you didn't see much from before keysoft 7.2. It always seemed
funny to me. What's the point in sponsoring your own list if you don't
ever
get in there with the users answering questions, etc? On the gw list,
you
see Doug and other gw employees up there. Same with K1000. Even on the
packmate list, which isn't even sponsored by FS, you will see Brad davis
and
other fs employees helping users and answering their questions.
I might as well sponsor the braille note list for all the help HW staff
are
on the list.
Dean Jackson used to respond as did Jonathan, but Jonathan's messages
usually stepped around the issues and were more sales and marketing
oriented
or giving some noncommittal answer.

Hi,
Yes, now you mention it, I have noticed the lack of messages from
HumanWare
since 7.2 came out. But then, they've lost Jonathan, so I'm not sure
who's
actually supposed to be responding. I'll ask a few questions, then:
Who's moderating this list?
Who's monitoring this list?
and
Who's in charge of the BrailleNote at the moment?
Talk about testing - how does one become a beta tester? Yes, I know
what
beta testing involves - I've tested for other companies in the past, and
would be very eager to help shape the BrailleNote in this way.
Thanks,
Matthew

Have any of you noticed that HW has not, to my knowledge, even let us
know
that they are working on the complications. It seams very strange that
these complications were not caught and solved. I would rather wait for
a
good product than get something just dumped together and not thoroughly
tested.
