I admit that, even in literary braille some of the UEB multi-character
punctuation signs take some getting used to, but they do become
familiar after awhile. I've only experienced UEB literary braille
code. Change is almost always uncomfortable. I am not interested in
becoming a defender of UEB. Its inclusion in KeySoft 7.5 simply means
an extra translation table in the upgraded Duxbury translator. It
will be available for those who want it, and can be ignored by those
who want to do that, in the same way that I do not use many of the
translation tables the BrailleNote provides. I don't understand the
level of anxiety sometimes expressed on this list about UEB's being
included in KeySoft 7.5. And let's leave it there, OK?

Hi, Graham,

I looked at the list of ueb symbols on the ICEB web page. Included on
this
list were the symbols for math and computer braille. The list didn't
include any contractions or short-form words or any of the grade 2
code.
The ICEB web page admitted the rules for grade 2 haven't been
finalized.

I found this list of symbols to be mind-boggling. UEB has so many
two-cell
symbols and three-cell symbols! Look at the list and see for
yourself.
