First, turn on the BN and look at the Braille Display or listen to the
speech. It will tell you what model it is. In addition, you will
need to examine the thing to see if it has USB ports or not. This
will determine if it is a classic or an MPower.
In addition, you should look for the serial number on the bottom of
the machine, inside the case. You will need to call Humanware and
tell them you purchased it so you can exchange its license. That way
if you decide to upgrade, they will have the info they need.

No, once you find out the version number, you can go to the net to
download the manual. However, the manual is on the BrailleNote. If
you have a BT keyboard, turn on the unit, press space-o and then the
letter u. You will be asked if you want the table of contents or the
index. You can begin reading the manual and learning how to use the
unit.

Yes, you are right. Just be sure to check to see that it has USB
ports before you purchase anything.

The kinds of books you can get are directly related to the version and
type of BN that you have. So, won't answer that here. Also, it will
depend on where you're located. Since you refer to a "lead" instead
of a cable, I'm going to assume that you're in Canada Britain or
Australia. This will also affect what books you can put on your BN.
