Hi list:

Subroutines date back to the dawn of time on big mainframe
computers.

Even IBM Assembler and FORTRAN had them, also COBOL and PL/1 to
name only a few.

Haven't programmed in C plus plus, but hear it is pretty nice.

Assembler language programming takes longer and you have to know
what you're doing more, but permits writing incredibly fast and
compact programs.

But your program is normally hard-coded to a particular
processor, operating system and such.  It can be ported
elsewhere, but depending upon many things may require a full
rewrite!

Not something to be taken lightly.
