Hi Corey, Kevin and list,
Once again, here's the article that made the
headlines, but it is in summary form:
As Kevin explaoed, upgrading to a new
operating system not only takes time, but
also invloves issues such as licensing and
testing phase. In terms of CE upgrade, CE 5
is revolutionary upgrade, and CE 6 is
fundamental change to how KeySoft works.
If you guys want, I'll resubmit my "Upgrading
to CE 6" article again (either on list or
offlist). If anyone wants me to post the
article in question to my website, let me
know offlist.
Cheers,
Joseph

for future developments
Corey,
The reason this is taking so long is not only
does HumanWare have to work with Microsoft to
get the licensing issue straighten out,
but they will have to rewrite the entire
KeySoft interface. Once all of this is
settled, there will be the quality assurance
process, which involves Alpha and Beta
Testing, which takes a good amount of time
for it to be done correctly. I hav noticed
for
HumanWare to be a company who wants things
done and done correctly. So, I think that if
they were to start on this process today
starting at the licensing side of things that
it would take them around a year, if not
longer to complete the entire task for the
end users to have. Keep in mind, this is
complete speculation on my part.
Not to mention that Sendero Group will have
to work really closely with HumanWare to
ensure that the GPS side of things are
working
with the new operating system and KeySoft.
Kevin
