Hi Alice,
The best person to ask about the PK and its power usage would be Kevin Chao
(I don't know his email address, but I can look it up for you using the list
archive).
I have a serious correction for the tech support personnel: PK does not have
a bootloader update capability. I know that this capability is present on
the mPoewr units (there is a special instructions for hits). As to the PK
being able to update the bootloader thing... I doubt that it exists (unless
I didn't go deep and asked some developer at HumanWare).
Cheers,
Joseph

Hi, Joseph and all,
I sent this message a few days ago and got no response, so I'm going to
send it again. But before I do, I have an additional question.
Humanware tech support said something about the bootloader when they
were trying to help me get the PK up and running again. Can I updeate the
bootloader or reload or reinstall it or whatever to see if this fixes my
problem? My PK is still plugged into the charger...I'm afraid to remove it!
BTW, I never did upgrade to 7.5 from 7.2, although I think I have an
upgrade or two left. I'm terrified of something going wrong when I try
it...should I overcome my cowardice and take the plunge and try it?
Anyhow, here's the message from a few days ago.
    Thanks, all!
You all may recall that I wrote last week about my PK only switching
between "off" and "brlnote PK" messages on the Braille display. I tried all
the tricks the Humanware tech support suggested, nothing. Then, I left the
PK off the charger until the "off" message disappeared. I then did a c1 c4
reset, and it is up and running again. I haven't taken it off the charger
yet, though: I am using it plugged in.
Does anyone have any explanation for this?

Alice
