It isn't just the braillenote family that is left in the cold with this new bookshare site. All of the comments about those who only have bns and no computer are very true. But it is more than just humanware that have to try and make the changes needed to get books and other info from bookshare. While I do feel the classic bn should be able to get a patch of some sort and something for the rest of us soon, bookshare in their communications with users gave us no indication there would be any disruption in how we got our books. They should have told us months or at least weeks in advance prior to the change. I have a program on my computer where I am supposed to be able to get bookshare books and I am having issues with that as well. I don't think others are but all files downloaded from that program are corrupted. I guess my main point is that I believe bookshare should have waited to put their new site online until all vendors like hw could put a patch or upgrade into motion. I really do feel for those who have classics and can no longer use bookshare if they did for books and newspapers and such. There should have been more communication between bookshare and hw so hw would have had a plan long before this new site went live. Or like I said bookshare should have waited until companies like hw could find a solution.

Rhonda and all,

One not having a PC is definitely not limited to the db community
and you
are a perfect example of that.

If they did not say anything about this change of access, then
isn't this
bait and switch since you can no longer access a site that you
once could?
It is obvious that they never gave members a clue as to what was
coming
which means there is blame on their end as well as that of HW.

This may be a larger issue than one thinks but I need to do some
research
before anymore can be said about that. We will see what happens
with this
one.
