Hi all, Actually, Bookshare did tell people they were going to a new format for uppacking their books. It is, as it happens more of a standard way to incript books, and there should not be a problem with any mainstream computer at all. Often web sites do not like download managers, and I don't recommend using them. They're just another layer between you and your activities. This change is actually one that will make it possible for anyone, running any OS to download books from Bookshare. In fact, I beta tested it for them in Linux, and it and its password protected zip files work just fine on Linux.
The problem is that for the BN, the unpack tool is in the ROM software, and needs to be replaced by the common, garden variety of what used to be called PKzip. This should be an easy fix, a patch-like fix since the zip program is common to Windows CE. Humanware could have simply made a patch and released it free to *all* users. It should have done that, period. This wasn't a program that had anything to do with ks8. This was a Windows CE issue and should have been fixed in a week! The program exists, it is a mere problem of replacing the unpack tool, a program designed by Bookshare, with a generic, garden variety, common, available in the OS program, period.
