Hi Noe:

Welcome to the world of the BrailleNote and to this list. There are several factors that may be affecting your battery and bringing you that error message.

A reset may clear up the error message. I would try a simple reset by just pressing the reset button that sits behind the on-off switch. A 4-5-6 reset may be required. Hold down the 4-5 and 6 keys while pressing the reset button; make sure to keep the 4-5-6 keys held down after you press the reset button, hold down those 4-5-6 keys until your BrailleNote starts talking, then release them.

All cards and devices should be out of the BrailleNote prior to any reset, just to protect them.

Some things tend to drain the battery - a wireless card or even SD or CF cards, or USB storage devices especially the larger ones can do this nicely.

I hope this helps. Your BrailleNote is a wonderful device and my life is easier for it. I would be in trouble without it. I would love it to be more than it is, but it is a workhorse for me as it is.

Subject: [Braillenote] A Battery Question

Hello listers,

I am a new Braille note user and have only had my
unit about a month or so.
I have a BT32 M-power and am still learning how to
use it.

I've noticed that when I charge the Braille note,
I'll turn it on maybe two
or three days later and the battery has already run
down. When I plug it in
to charge it again, the unit resets itself and I get
a message saying that
the dictionary files were not loaded correctly, or
something like that.
I still haven't had my coffee, so I'm not quite
running on all cyllinders.
I say this because I'm usually pretty good at
copying the error messages, so
I apologize if I seem a bit scattered.

I'd appreciate any help or advice.

Noe Villeda
