Just a correction here: if you use DAISY from Bookshare then Eloquence is
forced; BRF files will let you keep reading in Keynote Gold. The type of
file (zip or bks2) does not matter, the type of book (DAISY or BRF) is what
makes the difference.
Have a great day,
Alex

Hello Chris,
This Is Kristen.
Welcome To the BRAILLENOTE And BRAILLENOTE Family!
What Version of KEYSOFT Do You Have?!?
As Far As I know Keysoft 8.0 is the only version that currently Can open /
Unzip the BOOKSHARE Books.
I have that one.
and I use BOOKSHARE.
And I use the Books with the .bks2 extension, not the .zip extension,
because if you use the books with the .bks2 extension,
the BRAILLENOTE / VOICENOTE doesn't switch to eloquence,
it keeps speaking the KEY-NOTE-GOLD voice ... which is my preference!
But if you use the books with the .zip extension,
It switches to eloquence and * even * if * your default speech is set *TO
KEY-NOTE-GOLD*:
you * won't * be * able * to switch * to it * until your out * of the *
BOOK-READER.
At least ... that has been my experience with Keysoft.
mind * these BRAILLENOTES * and VOICENOTES * seem to be as different as
two people who use them!
so, in some cases * the experiences * one user * will have with them will
* differ * greatly *:
so, * greatly * that one * might begin to wonder if * their even the same
* product family.
Keep in mind this is just what I've experienced,
and observed over the last 8/10 years, as a BRAILLENOTE, and now a
VOICENOTE user.
Starting in 9th/10th grade with a BRAILLENOTE Classic,
and about 3 / 3 and-a-half years ago a VOICENOTE MPOWER USER!
And as an off and on participant on this list.
I started with Keysoft 5.1; then went to 2.7; then to 5.0;
and now am using A:
VOICENOTE MPOWER BT KEYSOFT 8.0 Build 20!
I * Love * It!
I Hope You Enjoy The list!
And I Hope you love your unit!
Looking Forward to getting to know you more on the list as we make our
BRAILLENOTE/VOICENOTE Journey's!
May GOD BLESS You, And Give You HIS PEACE!
Sincerely, In Our LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, And OUR BLESSED VIRGIN

Subject: [Braillenote] Bookshare books
Hello everyone:
I am new to the list but have already gained some useful
information. I've
noticed that the Braille Note Apex no longer supports unpacking
Bookshare
books. I assume this is because of the fact that Bookshare now
uses
password-protected ZIP files; I was able to open a Bookshare book
once it
had been unzipped. All the same, I think it would be useful if
the device
could handle these files without the user having to unzip them on
a PC. Is
that in the works? Or, am I doing something wrong? I tried simply
opening a
zipped Bookshare book with the Book Reader utility. Thanks in
advance for
any suggestions.
