I think I asked it on the list about iPhone and got no response. I decided
to give a shot myself. You do have to use Bluetooth, true, but you can use
the commands on your qwerty apex and use it as a braille display. The
commands like space bar with dot 1 for moving forward an element will work
on apex with qwerty keyboard. I couldn't use thumb keys though but may be
because I have customized thumb keys and not too keen on using the default
thumb key set up. Hope that helps.

Subject: [Braillenote] using Apex QWERTY as display with Appe/Mac products
The other day someone asked if the Apex QWERTY could be used as a braille
display with the Apple/Mac products. I looked at the VoiceOver user guide
and I am guessing that only the bt models are supported, although the Apex
is not listed. (But I know people on this list are using the Apex BT with
Apple/Mac products.) I am also guessing you must use a bluetooth
connection--that you can't use a USB connection.
Clearly, all models of the Apex are not created equal. QWERTY users are
excluded from using their Apex as a braille display with Apple/Mac
products. Well, that's a good reason why I shouldn't buy any Apple/Mac
products.
