The name change is for using the phone as a hotspot for web access. If it is terminal functionality you're after, look at this page: http://www.humanware.com/en-usa/support/braillenote_apex/braillenote_apex_as_a_braille_display There is no need to change the name if you want to use the apex as a terminal.
