Yes, the pairing has to be done quite fast. Just enter the four zeros,
then find the pair button in the upper right corner of the screen. If
you can't get it working, hw support may be able to help. When I first
got my iPod and couldn't get things working, I called them and they
helped me pair the iPod and apex.

Sounds nice, but I'm giving up for tonight... I've updated my phone which
was pretty slick... Nice to update right to the phone... I still haven't
been able to pair... I guess I'm just not quick enough...

Exactly. I have only had to re-pair a few times in the nearly 12
months I have had my iPod, and much of that was due to iOS updates.
However, after updating to iOS 5.0.1 just now, I had no problems, so
even that occasional inconvenience seems to have gone.
Mostly, I enter terminal mode and then unlock my iPod, and it is ready
to go. The iPod only searches for displays when it is unlocked, not
all the time, so you have to have the apex ready before using the
iPod. Once that is done, though, you can do anything you want on the
apex and re-enter terminal mode when you want to keep using the iPod
(or iPhone or iPad).

Hi Randi,
Using IOS 5 on the iPhone and Keysoft 9.2, your pairing will stay unless
you
have to do at least a 4-5-6 reset.
That doesn't happen often, but if it does, you may have to pair your
devices
again.

I just tried again... I really want to get this to work... Once you get
it
paired, do you have to do it again often? I'd rather use braille if I can
get it working...

That's too bad, as it is really handy and lets you almost have two
computers at once. If you ever want to try again, let me know. The
process isn't too hard, you just have to be quick with the pairing
code and, possibly, restart the phone.

about
pairing the apex for now...

Thanks for the help though.

The name change is for using the phone as a hotspot for web access. If
it is terminal functionality you're after, look at this page:
http://www.humanware.com/en-usa/support/braillenote_apex/braillenote_apex_as_a_braille_display
There is no need to change the name if you want to use the apex as a
terminal.

Hello all,

I just purchase my first Iphone a few days ago and want to pair it
with
the
apex bt.

I saw a post recently from someone who said she had to change the
name
of
the phone because of some special character. Is this something that
needs

to
be done just if you get a new phone, or is it something I need to do
too
for
my first one?

Thanks for your help. Any other suggestions/hints are appreciated.
