Hi,
Few things before we continue:
* Are you initiating the pairing process from your Apex end or
from the iPhone? When pairing the Apex with the iPhone to use it
as a braille display, you need to initiate the pairing process
from the iPhone, not Apex.
* What is the name of your Apex as found by the iPhone? In order
for pairing to be successful, the Apex need to have the following
format for its name: apexnnnnnn where the six n's are the last
six digits of your Apex's serial number.
Follow this general overview:
1. Turn off Bluetooth on both devices.
2. Turn on Bluetooth on the Apex first and go to Terminal Mode.
Select Bluetooth as the port to use.
3. Turn on Bluetooth on the iPhone, then select your Apex.
Double tap on the name of the Apex to connect.
4. At the passcode page, type "0000" (without quotes) then tap
"pair" button. At this point, both devices should recognize each
other.
5. Press Sleep/Wake button on the iPhone to lock the screen,
then press it again and double tap on the slider to unlock. At
this point, the contents of the iOS screen should be displayed in
braille following a short beep from the iPhone.
There is a podcast out there which describes this step with
step-by-step demonstration on how to perform this.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] Pairing Apex to Iphone
Hello List,
Has anyone had any success in pairing up the apex with the
Iphone? I have
tried numerous times to do this and apex will tell me that it's
paired, but
it really isn't. It's not displaying what's on the Iphone
screen. Can
anyone please walk me through step by step to try to find out
what I'm not
doing right? I'm thinking it's partly something to do with a
certain
authentification code. In the manual it says that you don't
necessarily
need to have this code to pair the two. Does anyone know what
that code
should be for either the apex or the Iphone? ARe they different?
Any
feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks.
