Hi,
I was able to duplicate Grant's instructions:
1. Told Apex and iPod (which is the one I'm using) to forget
each other (on the Apex, removed pairing; on the iPod, from
Bluetooth screen, said it should forget Apex).
2. From Apex, go to Options/Connectivity/Bluetooth; turn it on
and say yes to search for devices.
3. After a while, Apex should display list of devices, with the
iDevice as one of them. Select the iDevice and select serial
service.
4. When prompted, say yes when asked to pair, then type
authentication code and press ENTER (I recommend a simple
four-digit number such as 0000 or 5555).
5. On the iDevice, type the same authentication code when
prompted, then tap "pair" button. Apex should say "paired".
6. On the Apex, go to Terminal mode and select Bluetooth as the
terminal port. On the iDevice, go to
Settings/General/Accessibility/Voice/Braille. Under the list of
braille devices, you should see your Apex listed. Tap the name
of the device and it should connect.
Alternatively, after putting Apex in terminal mode, lock
iDevice's screen, then unlock it. If the above steps were
carried out, the iOS screen should be displayed in braille.
Cheers,
Joseph

If you mean in the connectivity menu, I beg to differ: doing this
only
causes your apex to not be seen, and may require a rather serious
reset to fix.

Hi,
Grant's instructions are correct also: you can in fact initiate
pairing from Apex's end also, provided that after pairing, you
go
to VoiceOver/Braille and connect to the Apex.

Sylvia, if your BrailleNote and iPhone tell you that the pairing
was
successful, then you should be all done. Simply enter terminal
mode
from the main menu and press B for bluetooth. Then on your
iPhone, go
to settings, general, accessibility, VoiceOver, and then choose
Braille. You should see your Apex in the list of Braille
devices;
double-tapping it should establish the connection. In future
you
won't
have to pop into this settings page; instead, when the iPhone
wakes
up, provided bluetooth is on on both devices and your Apex is in
terminal mode, the Braille display should be auto-detected. If
it is
not, simply locking then unlocking the iPhone should solve the
problem.
You can initiate the pairing from either device, despite what
the
instructions tell you to do. They are only trying to simplify
things
for you. If the pairing is done you do not need to do it again.

Hello List,
Has anyone had any success in pairing up the apex with the
Iphone? I have
tried numerous times to do this and apex will tell me that it's
paired, but
it really isn't. It's not displaying what's on the Iphone
screen. Can
anyone please walk me through step by step to try to find out
what I'm not
doing right? I'm thinking it's partly something to do with a
certain
authentification code. In the manual it says that you don't
necessarily
need to have this code to pair the two. Does anyone know what
that code
should be for either the apex or the Iphone? ARe they
different? Any
feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks.
