I imagine the reset simply does not interrupt the timer, so it never
has to figure out the time again. After all, there is that emergency
battery for tracking the time, so even disconnecting power will not
cause time problems. That said, the apex does a poor job of time
synchronization, as one can see every time daylight saving time starts
or ends.
