It's even retained if you do a hard reset. However, try changing your date and time and then resetting the Apex, with no internet connection set up. You'll probably find that it re-adjusts itself, which is what happened in my case. I only discovered this because I was curious to see how time synchronization worked, but when I tested it out I happened to not have internet connectivity.
