Dear Jonathan, Although I appreciate your response to this issue of giving a specific organization's members a discount, you have erred in leaving those of us who belong to no organization "out in the cold." This is not the same as offering frequent flyer miles or any other rewards. The BrailleNote is an expensive necessity and a discount should be offered to everyone. PDI/Humanware is discriminating against any blind person who chooses not to join NFB. Your suggestion that people lie and say they are members of NFB when they're really not, suggests dishonesty is ok with PDI.
I'm glad you have opened the offer of a discount to ACB members, too, but you still need to do the right thing for the rest of us: 1. Let everyone receive a discount, beginning November 1, 2003, to December 31, 2004. Or 2. Let anyone who buys a BN for the first time and who states they have been referred by a present customer--let that first-time customer receive a discount. And 3. Let anyone who already has a BN and buys another, should receive a discount no matter when they buy it. I realize you personally didn't make the discount deal with NFB, but PDI/Humanware deserves a definite spanking for what they did. They should be encouraged to choose from one of the three suggestions above. Terri, Amateur radio call sign KF6CA. Army MARS call sign AAT9PX, California
