As far as cookies go, you will notice a difference if you store information to be used on entry to a particular site. For example, on the web braille site there is a checkbox on the login screen which says something like "save settings on my computer". If you check this box, the next time you login you will find the information filled in for you. If you delete your cookies, the information is no longer available to you.
