Hello Ann, Beth and List,

I really think things have gotten out of hand when it comes to the technology discussion on this list! This discussion is interesting to me but I think there are more appropriate places for discussing the modification of this product! Suggestions are one thing, but trying to build the BN from the ground up is quite another matter! Even though the BN may have a few bugs, it is quite dependable and simple to run! If this technology is meeting your needs, then get the most from it! If it isn't, then sell what you have and purchase what will better meet your needs! No matter what they say, the other man's grass always looks greener! There is nothing more powerful than the power of the purse and word of mouth! One can do more good simply by doing what is possible to get the most from their technology! If what you have doesn't meet your needs, get what you think will do so! Keep in mind that you will go from any bugs you are presently experiencing to the bugs of something else! The word is getting around that if a Packmate loses its battery completely, one will lose their data including the operating system! All of this would need to be placed back in the unit once the battery is charged! If there is someone who knows anything about this problem, whether it exists or not, please Email me off list! Some time back, I had a BNS clasic! I was constantly losing all of my data with it! I returned it to the state. Once that product had a backup battery system, all was well! I don't care what bells and whistles a product may have, if one risks losing data, they are in a real bind for certain! The BN for me has been very dependable for how I use it. I have been able to keep track of my old Email address while I subscribe to all of my lists on my present address. I could trade in my M20 and somehow come up with a Packmate I suppose but then I hear it will have an upgrade which will allow files to be read from a storage card! I want to see how useful that will be since that product is very small and the battery lasts a long time! It certainly doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it is still very useful to me!

I guess it is a matter of personal preference and perseption! I think I'll have my BN for some time because of its easy to use Keysoft System. I say if one has more demands on a product, get what is needed! Place your energy to getting what you need rather than ranting and raving on this list! Pulsedata will deal with the BN as it will! It really isn't your problem or mine whether it supposably is falling behind or not! You and I are the consumer! We have the power! If we abandon this or any other product, that in itself will determine the direction Pulsedata or any other manufacturer will take!

Let's get down to the business of dealing with the operation of the BN as we should on this list! If I have questions about a competitor's technology, I will write someone privately about my question rather than take up space on a list! All of us and that includes me need to stay on topic! Pulsedata is providing a fine service when they allow us to have input on the Braillenote family of products! Let us not abuse this privilege! I'm not picking on Ann or Beth! I
simply answered this post but snuck in a few thoughts of my own!

Hello Ann and all,

My apologies to everyone that this thread has seemed to take on a life of
its own.<smile> I simply wanted to point out the need to be flexible both
with our views of technology and how others view technology. For me, and
obviously, the majority of people on this list, I prefer the BrailleNote for
reasons we've all been discussing. Constructive criticism is a great thing,
PulseData is willing to deal with us and our suggestions, that's what I had
been trying to get across all along.<smile>
