Hi all,

Just for grins and giggles, PCMCIA, according to my Cisco router book,
stands for Personal Computer Memory International Card Association. Now,
try to win a computer trivia contest with that one.<smile>

Yes, however, when you put it in the side, the BN calls it a "storage card"
rather than a compact flash card. Nothing like confusion, huh? It also
enables you to use an Ethernet card on the side if you have the PCMCIA
adapter. Wish I knew what PCMCIA stood for--grin!

>Hi Rhonda,

>Thanks for clearing that up for me. Is the PCMCIA card what enables the
flash card to be used in the slot on the side of the Braillenote? Also, out
of curiosity for anyone who knows, what does PCMCIA stand for? Thanks.

>>A compact flash card can be the little card that goes in the back, or, you
can purchase a little PCMCIA card in which the compact flash can be put.
This particular one does not have a wire. A card reader, on the other hand
does. The card reader can go in a pc, or your BN. Hope this makes a little
bit of sense.

>>>Hello List,

>>>I'm kind of confused as to what the difference is between compact flash,
PCMCIA, and all of the other types of storage cards used for the
Braillenote? I currently have what I believe to be a compact flash card and
a card reader, but some people I know say that they have cables coming out
of their card readers (unlike mine). Could somebody please set me straight
as to the difference between these cards as well as the purpose of the
cables coming out of the card adapters. Thanks.
