It doesn't sound as if the upgrade is all that bad. In fact, although
some have experienced major problems with email, it seems that
performance issues have been addressed. I would also add that wireless
connectivity is an astounding and wonderful edition to the BN/VN overall
functionality. Though I do not have the upgrade as yet, I have used
wireless networking for almost two years with computers and other PDAs,
and if you never have had this opportunity, let me tell you that you
will be a believer once you experience it.
I am surprised that some of these issues weren't picked up by the beta
team, perhaps PDI needs a larger group of beta testers so as to
diversify the kinds of situations that will be encountered.
But to be fair, beta testing is tough work, and finding problems is not
as simple as it seems.
I was a beta tester for the Braillenote for a brief time in the fall of
2000. I discovered several small bugs, others discovered different
bugs. Unfortunately, if in the course of beta testing, if you don't run
into email problems, you will not report them.
You as an individual beta tester can only report those issues that you
encounter. This is why I feel that a good beta team should consist of
many individuals from all parts of the globe.

Email and downloadin are important. I don't buy equipment that doesn't
go online. If I want just a note taker, I still know how to use a slate
and stylus or braille writer, not to mention my brain.

Now before an upggrade process I'm willing to store what messages are
important to me on dis to save them later. After all installing a new
program means you're starting out again.
It's like having a new unit, right? Will a new manual as nice as the
one that came with 5.00 be included? What's also important is
downloading my books and being able to read for hours. Brenda Mueller
