I thought there was a way to save Email as a text file! Those can be
attached to Email which goes out if one wishes to pass on a given piece of
Email!
I normally don't save Email in my BN unless I wish to answer some posts I
have there. If something is truly important, I'll forward that piece of
mail to myself so it will be on my PC. I understand with 6.1 databases are
operational from a storage card so one may be able to save more Email in
the future that way! Just some thoughts for what they are worth!

Sarah,
You could just email them to yourself prior to doing the upgrade. I
believe the BN does it's receive process before the send so this should
work. Of course if you receive them after the upgrade, they'll all show
as coming from you but if you're just using this as a backup, it's better
than losing everything.

Now this doesn't make any sense. The Email is stored in a special format
inside the Keymail database. It's not just a plain text file that you
could put on a CompactFlash card. All the databases are being reworked
during the upgrade process, and we won't be able to use the CDB files
created in 5.1 when we have 6.1. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are
suggesting?

Can't you just active sink them to your computer then copy them back after
the upgrade?

Well, my friend, that might not have been what I wanted to hear, but it's
pretty much what I expected to hear.--Grin! Oh well, at least I have lots
to do while I'm patiently waiting for the upgrade to arrive.
Thanks.

It's evident that I'm not Dean or Jonathan--grin. Yesterday, Sarah, I
worked with three people that installed their upgrade. I would advise you
to get your important email, and save it somewhere. I know, that's what you
wanted to hear.

Hi Dean, Jonathan, and List,
I have a fairly major concern about upgrading to 6.1. I have around two
hundred Emails stored in my BrailleNote in Keymail. Apparently when some
individuals have had trouble with Keymail after upgrading, the only way to
remedy the problem is to completely trash and recreate the Email database.
I *really* don't want to have to do this! My question is: should I start
the unbelievably tedious process of saving all my important mail as text so
I can get at the information later, or do I just take the plunge when 6.1
arrives and run the upgrade with the hope that all will go well? I have a
backup of my flash disk on my CompactFlash card, including my Email
database, but I gather that the databases created under 5.1 will be entirely
useless and unusable after upgrading.
Any thoughts, contemplations, and considerations are welcome.
Thank you,
Sarah
