Jonathan, I am always nervous about mergers, be they in access technology or in the ordinary market place. Usually, the customer is the one who gets royally screwed in these ventures. Freedom Scientific is such an example in the access tech field. I'm not normally a FS basher, because I happen to like Jaws, but customer service went down the tank after all those previously independent companies merged to become freedom Scientific. I await events in this new merger with great trepidation. I'm not automatically assuming bad things, just holding my breath. I guess that's probably a natural way to feel. I just wanted you at PDI to know that some of us may feel very uneasy about this for a while. LOL.

I have been travelling for the last 26 hours to get to the ATIA conference in Orlando, so am just catching up with your quite understandable questions about the creation of the Humanware Group. What I'd like to do is consolidate all my replies in this message, but I have read all the questions and will answer them as best I can. Firstly, let me say how excited we all are to be a part of this innovative new venture, with the largest research and development team in our industry. For all of us who are blind or visually impaired, it can only mean good news in terms of product development and innovation. There are no job losses involved in this merger, so the familiar faces you've come to associate with your favourite product will not change. For example, I'll still be hear to take your suggestions relating to the BrailleNote family of products, and those with all the knowledge on the DAISY products, Trekker and Maestro will continue to serve you in Humanware as well. please appreciate that it's early days. Clearly there are some really exciting potential benefits of the merger, a killer DAISY application for the BrailleNote being just one example. It will take some time for our systems to combine and product development processes to be synchronised. But no products are being withdrawn from the market as we're very proud of all of them and the varying ways they meet the needs of customers. To the questioner asking about BrailleNote GPS, we will be continuing to ensure that Sendero Group has all the support they need from us to develop what is an excellent product. Remember that it has been our hope for some time that third party developers would be able to write code for the BrailleNote. Sendero Group is such a third party developer, one of what we hope in time will be many. So there is no conflict at all in us supporting them and making the product available to you. I am very confident you'll be delighted with the future direction of the BrailleNote under the Humanware banner. We are in for some exciting times. I would have thought pdi would have merged with gw micro since those two seemed to be so cozy. Hmm! Something to really think about. I am glad in a way to see this because with the pk being such a closed platform, I was very concerned with their future. Wonder if this is going to be like freedomscientific's buying out Blazie engineering Arkenstone and Henter Joice? Vettyinteresting I must say! Mary Ellen Earls Remember!
