Ben, I also had a yuk! reaction when I first pulled out my screen,
about 9 months after I got the Brewt. It doesn't take long to create a
whole bio-system in there! Since then I've taken the screen and gasket
out of the grouphead, and the basket out of the PF out every day - a
quick wipe and rinse under running water and they're good as new. It's
got to the point that I get them both out, washed and replaced
(including wiping underneath the exposed group head) in about two
minutes. At first I wondered whether backflushing with cafiza was
still necessary but... it is.
