You know, one other thing that occurs to me here.  If you look closely at
the chrome edge of the screen, you will see the spot welds--they are about
3/8" apart or so (1cm?).  With all the various tools mentioned, if you apply
the tool at the point of a spot weld, I think you may be less likely to do
damage (by bending the chrome edge down).  Just a thought.

The E61 screen from Chris Coffee is $7.50, so for a week's worth of coffee,
you can replace this frequently and not worry about the gunk between the
layers.
