When I retrofitted the drain to my BII I punched a 1/8" hole in the bottom of the drip tray as I wanted to be able to easily plug it. I found that the water dripping from there to the drip tray splashed a bit so I added a 1" piece of small diameter brass tube so the water doesn't fall so far. and now it's perfect. I can pour a quart of water in the tray and it empties slowly but can't overflow the drain.
