Tim, A rotary pump & motor can be installed either internally or externally.
To be internal, the pump itself and the motor must be small enough to fit
inside.
You can use the same wires that go to the vibe pump for the new motor.
The rotary pump will have a bypass valve to adjust the brew pressure, but
you need another OPV set at 12 bar to protect the boiler. I used another
brand, although the stock one would also work.
I use 3/8" supply line coming from mains. Also will need a water filter
system, and a pressure regulator to lower mains pressure to about 25-30
lbs.(WLL reccomends about
10-12 lbs.) If you want manual preinfusion feature, you should have more
pressure.
I never messed with the giculeur disc in the E-61 head. Instead, you can
use an adjustable needle valve located on the pumps output line to control
flow rate.
There is a boiler tee where the existing pump leads to. That is where the
new pump will connect, and that thread is 1/4" british pipe thread. You can
buy an adapter to go from 1/4 BSPT to whatever american size you want to
use. Some pumps are sold with 3/8" british threads, and you would need two
thread adapters for it. I buy my pumps from Procon with american threads on
them.
I use a cheaper GE carbonater motor 1/4 hp from Graingers, but it is large
size, for external use. For an internal setup, useing factory stock parts
from WLL would be a safe bet, but probably pretty expensive.
One more thing, remove the low water tank safety switch, or disable it.
