Hey Mark,
Something like that.  I use 9 bar with the blind filter, which gives me around 
8.5 bar for brewing.  You can play around with it and see what suits you.  I 
have found the slightly lower pressure makes it easier to avoid channeling, 
along with good dose/tamp technique.

As an aside, when you are INcreasing brew pressure, you can just turn the screw 
and watch the gauge.  When DEcreasing brew pressure, you'll need to back the 
screw off a bit, dump pressure, then re-pressurize the system.  If you just 
back off and watch the dial, you'll tend to miss the mark.
