OK, an update.

In his usual awesome style, Todd Salzman emailed me within about five
minutes of my previous post.  He had me call his cell, and we
discussed the problem.

Since the switch didn't seem melted, he suggested I disconnect the
boilers and try the circuit again (it tripped).  For giggles, I
unplugged the pump and reset, and the machine stayed on and started to
heat.

I pulled out the pump and put a continuity tester across it, and it
had continuity.  I tested my other two pumps, and they were both
open.  I'm no electrician, but I believe that means there's a dead
short in the pump that I removed.

Put in one of my (spare) pumps, and all is once again well.

I do notice that a number of things are brittle from age and heat
(temp probe, zipties, water lines, etc.) so I'll get after some of
that when the steam wand part arrives.

Eagerly awaiting my caffeine shot once the machine is up to temp.
