Yeah, well out of warranty anyway.  I have added a temp probe near the button 
sensor you described previously to measure bean temp instead of environment 
temp--as an aside, what a HUGE difference that made in my roasting!  Feel like 
I was blind before.

Back to the question at hand, I don't understand how a switch inline there 
would help.  If it was open, would it make the machine think it was cold, i.e. 
no signal from the sensor?
