Same experience as Herman; I've had a BII on a timer (on for about two hours in the morning each day) for about 5 years without any problem.I've occasionally left it on for a day or two, also without problem, but can't think of any reason why you would want to waste the electricity.
I've read various threads somewhere where someone suggested that turning espresso makers on and off with a timer is somehow worse than turning them on and off with the switch. I think that's been pretty well discredited.
