So...here we almost more than 3 weeks later and I am no closer to fixing 
this but I am poorer.

As I mentioned earlier, my dealer thought the problem might be related to 
me plugging the unit into a GFI outlet. He says he has heard of that 
before. He even said that could damage the PID permanently. This is 
supposedly because the GFI can produce 'dirty power' which the unit, 
especially the PID, does not like. On this thread Todd had never heard of 
that and I know he would have seen a few situations.

My dealer suggested it would be either a damaged temperature sensor, or a 
damaged PID, or both. I figured, let's not fool around so I had him send me 
replacement units for both, all to the tune of $350. I replaced both the 
sensor and PID, hooked everything up, turned on the machine and voila! 
Exactly the same as it was before. 

If nothing else, I am learning how important after sales support is! 

I'd really like to get this working of course. Had I known this, I may not 
have bought an Expobar, although it is truly a great machine. But, if you 
can't get the thing serviced, it is only an expensive shiny paperweight.
