Hi, sorry to bring this thread back from the grave but I also had a 
reputable espresso machine maintenance shop tell me today the Brewtus was 
not meant to run on a GFCI (currently having a tripping problem as well). 
 They told me that the machines send a small amount of current to ground as 
a part of how they sense water level, and that a machine that has worked 
for years on GFCI circuits may become suddenly become a serial GFCI 
tripper.  Any thoughts here?  Did you ever resolve your issue?  This shop 
has no reason to tell me one thing or another since they have never worked 
on my machine and they are an authorized service center for Nuova 
Simonilli, Rancilio, Franke, Schaerer, Astoria, La Marzocco... but not 
Expobar.
