The original wand had the nut on the outside, so I left it there. Doesn't seem to do any harm.

Mine did come with a cool wand, no changing necessary.

I managed to mount mine flush, had to enlarge the whole slightly but looks very neat.

When I got my one it had a standard "hot" wand, I used it for a
while and then got tired of having to clean burnt milk of it all
the time and decided to try swop over my cool wand of my old wand.

Was pretty easy to swop over and there was no noticeable
difference in steaming performance either. Interested to know what
your steaming performance is like with 250ml of room temp water.

I ordered the adapter, but I don't think it was necessary.

I wasn't impressed with the two hole tip that came with it, so
I switched it out for the pointy one holer that came with the
        stock Brewtus steam wand.

I'm pretty happy with the results.

Nice! I'm on my second stock steam wand and it's already
dripping. I'm ready for an upgrade.

            Chris Coffee has this:
            https://www.chriscoffee.com/Joystick-Assemblies-p/jt995g.htm,
and one of the customer comments notes that they managed
to fit it to an Expobar office lever machine. Perhaps
            I'll give it a try.

I used a Reneka steam control, unfortunately has a
slightly larger connection than the standard steam tap
so had to get the connectors changed. Also had to
increase the size of the hole on the front of the
machine, altogether took about and hour to do the whole job.
