Hi Ira, The North roasters are a little out of my ballpark. If I was roasting more coffee though they would make sense. The new Mercury, http://www.cloudbean-tech.com/, seems to have a lot of promise but I don't see a lot of info. I can get digital thermocouples and a phidget board and get a lot of info out of the Quest. There's a guy named Eric in Maryland that has the parts etc necessary but it doesn't seem too complicated. I'm sure there will be a more complete solution that ties everything together at some point. The Huky is also an option that I'm looking at but I don't think there's a distributor in the US and ordering may be complicated, I still don't know for sure how to order one. One big plus is that I have a 48" gas range with a very large capacity vent hood and I could use one of my burners as the heat source. That would take out a layer of complexity as far as parts and make it much easier to use, for me, as well. I'm going to keep digging and hopefully find something that suits my needs without going "over the top" expense wise. This is all lending some clarity to my search so hopefully I make the best decision the first time.
