Looking at the adapter kit link he sent the other day, it appears that the 
copper washer is shaped like a flare fitting. Perhaps they are too dissimilar 
in size to take up the slack? I still think it might work, if he just shims 
under the nut or shortens the nut, so that the compression fitting can do its 
work. Did you try this winnipegger? Easy enough to try—just get some split 
washers and put them on the tubing, then bolt it up and see what happens.
