Hi Todd,
I am able to hear the clicking of the switch, tried to push the switch with 
a butter knife (directly behind the lever) - it goes smooth as butter, 
doesn't look stuck.
I have pulled off one of the wires connected to the switch - pump still 
turns on and doesn't stop.

maybe some more things that might help the analysis:
-same issue no matter if the steam boiler is turned on or off
-When turning the machine on the pressure jumps to 10bar and stays there.
