Well... if you wait too long the gasket turns into very brittle carbon, the 
fragments remain glued in with coffee tar. I had to scrape it all out with 
a set of plastic picnic knives. I think my first removal was like that, I'd 
waited 4+ years and the gasket was literally coked.

The trick I found for removing a stuck pf gasket was to use a blank 
backflush screen. Backflush about 5-7 times but pouring the water out of 
the pf each time. For some reason this loosens the gasket and screen and 
the screen and gasket basically fall out. No need for even a flathead or 
any prying. I was so surprised the first time it happened but seems 
reliable.

For silicon gasket coming loose. I've no idea, hasn't happened to me. I 
know there are two slightly different thickness of silicon gaskets and the 
brewtus needs one and not the other. Is it possible you have the wrong one? 
I believe the brewtus needs the thicker one.
