Suffice to say, this recount is getting very interesting. If Bush cannot get to a
3,000 vote margin, the result should be questioned. NBC News reports that the Gore
camp has already contacted the most high profile law firm in the State to "explore" a
legal challenge. Many other miscellaneous challenges are also abounding.

John now:
Gore needs to stop, and he needs to stop now. Tuesday at 5pm, Florida will certify
that the recount has produced a Bush victory of less than 1,000 ballots.

Wow, pretty amazing that a guy could change his mind as new information comes in, huh?
Maybe that's why I wrote an e-mail entitled "Second Thoughts."

Since you apparently missed it, here it goes again:

The first quote was written based on an analysis of Pat Buchanan's likely vote total
were Palm Beach County to conform to the Florida average.

Since then, new evidence has come in that it *is* reasonable to believe that Buchanan
could have performed exceptionally well in Palm Beach County.

1) The Reform Party Congressional Candidate performed exceptionally well, pulling
2,500 votes to Pat's 3,600 votes.

2) Pat Buchanan performed very well in PBC in a meaningless 1996 Republican Primary,
after Dole was already declared the Republican nominee.

3) Reform Party voter rolls in PBC have increased *110%* to 16,000 members. This
suggests that a mere 25% of Reform Party members voted for their candidate. This is
not unreasonable.

4) Nearby Broward County only had Reform Party rolls increase by less than 40% to less
than 1,000 voters. Thus, comparisons between Pat's totals in PBC and nearby counties
are innaccurate.

Thus, a reasonable person could believe that Pat Buchanan really did amass 3,600
votes. Therfore, I must amend my above statement to say that the results *could* be
quesitoned (and this questioning will hopefully lead to substantial election reform in
this country) instead of *should* be questioned.
