I, also, almost never give up on a book. I don't think there's been more
than a handful of them. And in several cases, I eventually came back to
them when I got older and tried again and it worked better. (Or I
discovered I was reading a series out of sequence which is why it made no
sense.) I can remember trying to read Heinlein's "Methuselah's Children"
without having read any of the future history stories. It made no sense and
I gave up. After reading many of the others I tried again and I made it
through it.
Ironically, one of the few books I tried and gave up on and never went back
to was "1984". I wonder if I should try now?
